Finally….Book Checkout Begins for Both KVA and F2F Students!!!!

We are so excited to finally be able to check books out to our readers!!! Our Face to Face students will begin book checkout on Thursday, September 24th.  Our KVA students will begin placing holds on books they want to check out this week for pick up this Wednesday, September 23rd!! KVA students-see the instructions below on how to place a hold on a KDE library book.

Happy Reading Everyone!

KVA STUDENTS ONLY:We will begin library book checkout for our KVA students through a grab and go library book pickup on Wednesdays starting September 23rd.  Students will be able to visit the online library catalog to search for library books and place a hold on the book of their choice.  Students will only be able to place a hold for one book per week.  Holds will need to be placed between Saturdays beginning at 8 am through Mondays at 4 pm.  Any holds placed after Mondays at 4 pm will be deleted.  Mrs. Long and Mrs. Matovich will pull the library books that were requested and get them ready for the grab and go pickup cart.  On Wednesdays, the grab and go cart will be located in the front of the school in the vestibule between the first two sets of double doors.  Parents will be allowed to go to the vestibule and pick up their child’s library book from the cart.  Parents must wear a mask in order to enter the school.  The book will already be checked out to the student so the parents will just grab the book with their child’s name on it from the cart and go.  The next week, the process will begin again.  Students will place their holds on books beginning on Saturday morning and ending Monday at 4 pm.  Grab and Go pickup will be every Wednesday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm.  If a book is not picked up by Wednesday at 4pm, it will be checked back in to the KDE Library for someone else to check out. There will also be a return box in the front vestibule where parents can return their child’s library book before picking up a new book. Here is a video explaining the grab and go library book checkout process and how to place a hold on a library book.

Wednesday: Parents may pick up their child’s requested library book from the grab and go cart in the front vestibule of the school from 8 am to 4 pm.

Missing My Students

I am really missing being with my students right now! I hope that you all are taking some time each day to read a good book.  Reading has been the best part of my days here at home.  I love to find a cozy spot in my house and just sit and read in peace and quiet.  It helps to get my mind off of some of the crazy stuff that is going on in our world right now.  Hopefully things will go back to normal soon and I can get a chance to read a book to you in person! Stay well and take care!

Love-Mrs. Matovich

Jon Klassen Author Visit

We had the best time with Caldecott Award winning author and illustrator Jon Klassen! The 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students enjoyed the readings of his books and they particularly loved the Triangle book.  We learned all about how he paints his illustrations using charcoal and pencil shavings. He was so fun and the students were very engaged! Thank you to Blue Willow Book Shop for bringing Jon Klassen to our school!
